In this project I looked at the possibility to use data to make railwaycrossings safer. ProRail always tends to look into hardware solutions first while a digital solution can often bring quick and cheaper advantages.

The project consisted of multiple parts of which one was:

An in-car alert for cardrivers approaching a levelcrossing. I worked together on this part with the Flitsmeister application. During the design phase we played with the thin line between information and irritation for the consumer. In januari 2019 the final warning desing was implemented in the Flitsmeister application with more than 1,3 million users. The release generated a lot of attention from the media (see figure 1)
